If there’s one piece of advice I’d like to give you, it’s that your conclusions will more than likely keep you stuck.

This can apply to your relationships, your business, or just your day-to-day life. You may have concluded that, as someone who’s been in a toxic relationship for 40 years, there’s no hope for you.

Or if you want to lose weight, you might think that nothing ever works for you and you will never slim down. Similarly, if you want a relationship, you might believe that you will never find someone who you sync with.

Our days are filled with conclusions about what we can or cannot do, and when we live with those conclusions, we will always scan the environment for evidence to confirm them. See how tricky the mind is.

You may feel ‘overweight,’ so you look around at things that validate your conclusions about losing weight. It can be as simple as, “If I had more time in a day, I would hit the gym or do cardio, but I can’t because I am taking care of the kids.”

That’s a conclusion that will seem legitimate, but when you’re concluding, you’re not opening yourself to other viable options to lose weight like probably changing your diet.

“I’ve tried therapy for a few sessions, and I was right, nothing seems to work. Even research says someone who’s experienced abuse will suffer from it for a very long time.”

That’s a seemingly ‘legit’ conclusion, which you’ve even backed with research, but you’re not opening yourself to the other side of research where people have recovered in a week or a month. It’s all about conclusions, conclusions, and more conclusions.

And you know who comes up with these conclusions? It’s not the experts; it’s your ego or your identity. And when you’re operating from that identity, it will always seek self-preservation or to keep you where you are because it’s safer and predictable. In fact, one question I ask the clients I work with, especially, those who’ve done a lot of research and really ‘know’ is, “Who is the expert of your life?”

Your Conclusions are Not Based on Facts

So, your conclusions will mostly not be based on facts but on what solidifies your ego. Your conclusions seek to ‘protect’ you or help you avoid something.

That’s why, even in the healing journey, you have to pause and just ask yourself what conclusions you have made about your current situation.

Bring your awareness to the conclusions you make about yourself, and slowly you will begin challenging the master litigator, your ego, and start looking at things from your authentic self.

Your Identity Is a Byproduct of Your Life Experiences

The ego concludes, and the ego or your identity is the byproduct of the things you’ve picked up in your environment and the things you’ve learned from your life experiences. So, you can’t expect the same beliefs to give you infinite options; they will always give you options that solidify them. That’s why you need to question the conclusions you’re making about any aspect of your healing journey.

Healing is Dismantling Your Conclusions

In fact, if you’d like to sum up healing, just look at it as breaking your conclusions and allowing facts to reign. Healing is bringing to your awareness that you may have arrived at those conclusions because of your upbringing or your experiences in life, but that doesn’t make them factual.

They are just pieces, and those pieces need to be dismantled gently and compassionately by challenging them with facts. Your mind will not give you leeway to do this, but that’s where you’ve got to be watchful and pay attention to its rumblings and conclusions. Slowly, your ego will get scared, and you will start seeing yourself more authentically.

If there’s one tool I use in my journey, it is always looking at the conclusions I am making about myself and then sitting with that uncomfortable feeling deep inside. It’s in giving attention to that discomfort where you find healing and peace. So, what conclusions are you making about your life?

You can write them down and just tell yourself, “It’s not true.” It will feel uncomfortable, and you may want to postpone it for later, but if you sit with that discomfort, slowly, the authentic you or the light deep within you will start shining.

It will light up the shroud of darkness that is holding you back from enjoying life and seeing the possibilities and options you have. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

One last thing: be watchful not to conclude the conclusions with conclusions or ‘big words’ like God, trauma, destiny, inner child, curse, or any big barrier that seems like a great alibi for your identity to surmount.

KEEP IT SIMPLE and feel the discomfort. Just know, your mind will latch onto anything to survive. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean that I am disregarding them and their effect, but just be watchful.

Peace to you all. Have a wonderful week.
