What To Expect from Your Manipulative Ex Once You Leave The Relationship
Today I’ll be addressing the question of what to expect from your abusive ex once you leave the relationship. Actually, when it comes to leaving them, there are various behaviors they might exhibit afterward. It’s not really a one-size-fits-all scenario, but some common behaviors include:
Wanting You Back
One common behavior is that they may want you back even after discarding you or you’ve left the relationship. They may apologize and claim they’ve changed their behavior. They might mention going for therapy or use other tactics to lure you back because they fear abandonment and don’t want to lose you as their supply. It’s actiually very tempting to fall for their ploys or to believe what they say especially when you’ve not really going inwards and come to terms with the fact that the relationship cannot be fixed.
Quickly ‘Moving On’
Another thing they might possibly do is jump into another relationship. While you’re still grappling with what went wrong in your relationship, they will be having their moments with their new catch. You might find them in another relationship before you’ve finalized the divorce or even processed the breakup. They might flaunt their new relationship on social media to emphasize that they’ve moved on, perhaps to show you that you’ve lost something.
Smearing Your Name
Another possibility is that they may tarnish your reputation to people close to you. Since they’ve lost control over you, they might try to save their own reputation by tarnishing yours. Reputation is vital to them as it protects their self-image. They may falsely accuse you of leaving them or engaging in behaviors like cheating, without waiting for you to reveal their abusive nature.
It’s important to note that not all abusive individuals exhibit these behaviors, and it’s not a universal pattern. Therefore, it’s unnecessary to dwell too much on what they might do. Instead, focus on what you need to do, which is healing the emotional wounds and negativities inflicted by the relationship. While it’s tempting to obsess over their actions or even engage in cyberstalking late at night, doing so only gives them unnecessary attention in your mind. Redirect your energy towards finding answers to the painful emotions you’re experiencing, as this will undoubtedly aid in moving forward with your life.
