Maladaptive Daydreaming: Why Your Daydreaming Is Getting Worse?

Maladaptive Daydreaming: Why Your Daydreaming Is Getting Worse? maladaptive daydreaming: why your daydreaming is getting worse?

Today, I’ll address the question of why my daydreaming is escalating and becoming unmanageable. Initially, you could control it, and it was enjoyable. However, now it’s spiraling out of control. This issue essentially has two sides to it.

The first side relates to your ability to control it. Initially, when you could manage it, the act of daydreaming served as an escape from negative emotions or real-life problems like stress, anxiety, or job-related issues. However, as you continued daydreaming, these problems piled up. In the beginning, they weren’t a significant concern and didn’t dominate your life. But as you indulged in daydreaming repeatedly, these issues accumulated to a point where you could no longer manage them. These problems started to control you instead of the other way around.

It’s as if there are two entities: the stuck emotions and the part of you that used to manage daydreaming. The stuck emotions, which are the accumulated negative feelings and unresolved issues, have now taken over, overpowering the part of you that was once in control. These stuck emotions are essentially the focus of your subconscious mind. When the subconscious mind takes charge, it compels you to daydream, and you lose the conscious ability to control the daydreaming process.

The main reason behind this loss of control is that the stress and anxiety in real life have reached a level where they are no longer manageable consciously. To regain control, you must address these issues by diving deeper into your subconscious mind, processing them, and releasing the stuck emotions. This is where therapy can be beneficial.

In essence, the issue isn’t solely about daydreaming but rather about the unresolved emotions and real-life challenges that have amassed to a point where they are beyond conscious control. It’s similar to a fire in a forest that starts slowly but eventually becomes uncontrollable, necessitating an external solution.
